Walnut Studio’s Strap Bike

Walnut Studio’s Strap Bike

Nothing more than a strip of leather with two adjustable buckles from a production point of view, this idea has a vast importance in its application. Bikers anywhere will love it. It is very simple and at the same time extremely practical. When fastened it becomes an invaluable tool in lifting bicycles especially up stairs and such. This is the creation of Walnut Studio’s Geoffrey and Valerie Franklin and will most probably come in three colors and the option of inscribing names or initials on the leather. And here is a fun fact for you: it took only $3,500 to produce 14,900 of those.

Reel - customize your bike

Reel - customize your bike

“Reel” utilizes the bike frame triangle in any way you choose fit- you can customize it to your own needs and it comes in very handy when you are lacking a luggage carrier. It has sticky silicone buds to help you position the ribbon to let you ride around with anything from water bottles to books and groceries. In contrast to other devices with “Reel” your things will never fall out no matter how rough the terrain you and your bike are rolling through. “Reel” is simple to use and easy to store- when not used it can fit into most pockets.

GAP Electra Cruiser – original, limited-edition designer bike

GAP’s marketing campaigns are always launching striking design chef d ’oeuvres you can’t resist buying. I really admire the GAP's way of incorporating the fashion tendencies and concepts in everyday objects. 2007’s fashion motto were the color stripes, which GAP bring out from the clothing to let the customers customize a brand new Vespa LX50 and buy it for $6000. This season GAP is hitting the market with a mind blowing bike design. The collaboration this time is with Electra Bicycle Company for a limited-edition of Electra Cruisers, complimented with blue argyle patterns, which are the inspiration of the GAP’s new holiday collection. The bike comes in adult and child series at the affordable prices of $499 and $299 respectively.

Pilen Bicycle Concept – retro style bike with unique design features

Swedish product designer Eric Oscar Therner did what the city lifestyle needed– an elegant bike design, which refreshes the contemporary biking visuals and in the same time makes the biker standing out from the everyday environment, while enjoying a comfort ride. The concept is entirely inspired from the 1930’s Le Mans racers with an idea to spice it up with materials and technologies from the future. Thus way the bike is equipped with unique features such as led lights integrated into the frame and a two part saddle which absorbs shock. What really impress me in the Pilen Concept are the fine curves, the way all parts hold together in a solid, but still elegant construction giving an impression of power, comfort and safety.

The Pilen bike proofs again that mixing retro and contemporary result in excellent concepts – let’s hope they will soon flood the markets with their product equivalents.
