Edwin - a sustainable fruit squeezer

Edwin - a sustainable fruit squeezer

Say hello to Edwin - a sustainable and repairable fruit squeezer. Lately we have been surrounded by products and technology that have a built-in expiry date in order to make us buy new ones every few months or so. This kind of strategy is no longer justifiable in a reality of diminishing natural resources and the ever-growing need for sustainability.

And so Edwin was born- an electric squeezer made of wood and ceramics. Its components are interchangeable in case repair is required. In case it needs to be disposed of, its parts can be recycled separately and completely.

Edwin’s simple geometric shapes makes it neutral and adaptable to any environment.

Rinser Toothbrush

Rinser Toothbrush

“Rinser” is a toothbrush ingeniously designed to turn the mundane task of brushing your teeth into a fun and pleasant experience. This unique design, winner of the red dot design award, allows you to wash your mouth without bending over too much or using an old-fashioned cup by turning the brush into a power fountain. It comes in handy when you are on the road and the hotel bathroom tap is too low for your taste. The brushing part comes off which allows a prolonged use. This is just a prototype for now but who knows- it might soon hit the market.

Collapsible Boat by Thibault Penven

Collapsible Boat by Thibault Penven

This collapsible boat concept reminiscent of a camping tent was designed by Thibault Penven of the Cantonal School of Art and Design in Lausanne, Switzerland. Based on the simple principles of the power of pushing and pulling at any of the number of point of contacts between the individual frames, it is quick to unfold, easy to use, lightweight and fit for an actual safe boat ride. It fits perfectly in the trunk of a car and there is still lots of space to spare for the oars and a cooler bag to make that day out at the lake just right.

Magnetic Hammer by Jung Soo Park

Magnetic Hammer by Jung Soo Park

This interesting solution by designer Jung Soo Park allows you to gather those pesky nails without the bother of picking them up one by one. Very often there are crooked nails left after you have finished nailing anything, aren’t there? It could be at times hazardous to your health to try and pick them up by hand but the magnetic handle on this hammer lets you safely carry them to the trash bin. You can also store your spare nails under there, instead of reaching in the box for each and every one.

Folding ladder

Folding ladder

Most of us have one of those at home. But even if we fold it, it seems to always take up too much space. This innovative design turns the otherwise tough to handle ladder into a useful lightweight tool that is above all more than easy to store. As you can see on the photos, the lightweight yet durable wooden materials, the folding steps design and powerful hinges turn the folding ladder into a trusty, hefty tool that can be stored in the closet taking up little more space than a mop.

Shoes, Books and a Bike by Postfossil

Shoes, Books and a Bike by Postfossil

We all have those moments when we think there’s too little space in the apartment. No matter how much we try to optimize the narrow corridor spaces, it seems like there is always something left to bump into. The “Shoes, Books and a Bike” shelf offers a unique insight into space handling. With its simple lines and narrow wooden planks it could be placed right by the door and you would not have to go back and forth round the apartment or house if you just feel like a bike ride in the park. And if you would like to stop somewhere for an enjoyable read, your favorite books are never too far away.

This Hold On Tight Shelf can keep your reads up and tidy and you can always adjust it if you choose to expand or diminish your collection.
